Coinbase announced on Thursday that it is now supporting EOS on Coinbase.com, as well as its apps for both Android and iOS. The announcement was made via the company’s blog and confirmed that Coinbase users are now able to “buy, sell, convert, send, receive, or store EOS.”
Support for the token will apparently not be initially available for Coinbase users in New York State or the United Kingdom. However, customers in most other jurisdictions will be able to able to hold or conduct transactions with the cryptocurrency on the Coinbase exchange.
The post described EOS' mission and features:
EOS is a cryptocurrency designed to support large-scale decentralized applications. There are no fees to send or receive EOS. Instead, the protocol requires EOS to use resources like RAM, CPU, and network bandwidth. It also rewards the entities that run the network periodically with new EOS, effectively substituting inflation for transaction fees.
Coinbase is the latest cryptocurrency token added to the Coinbase exchange in the wake of the company’s decision to expand its trading support. In addition to adding coins like XRP and USD Coin, the company has also expanded its trading reach into new jurisdictions across the globe and introducing new programs like Coinbase Earn.
