U.S.-based cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase announced in a blog post Tuesday that its customers throughout the European Union and the European Free Trade Association nations can now withdraw funds to their PayPal accounts. The company had previously restored PayPal withdrawal support to U.S. customers in late 2018.
Coinbase paused its PayPal integration early in 2018, after discovering technical issues that needed to be addressed. The company decided to focus resources on improving its broader customer experience, while promising to work on restoring PayPal withdrawals later in the year.
The Coinbase announcement highlighted the company’s commitment to safe and easy customer transactions and noted the unique benefits for its European users:
Before PayPal, SEPA and UK Faster Payments were the only options for European customers to withdraw funds. Part of our commitment to being the safest and easiest is to support the preferred transfer options for our customers around the world. As one of the world’s easiest and most widely-used payment platforms, adding PayPal as a withdrawal option for European customers offers another great option for withdrawing their funds.
Coinbase also confirmed that it is working on providing the same level of PayPal support for customers outside the U.S., EE, and EFTA.
