Liechtenstein’s postal service this week announced that it will now provide its customers with cryptocurrency exchange services at its post office locations. During the first phase of the effort, these services will be available at the Liechtensteinische Post AG’s office in the capital of Vaduz, with plans to extend the service to other post office locations.
During the initial launch phase, customers in Vaduz will be able to purchase Bitcoin at the post office. Along with their purchase, they will receive a physical cryptocurrency wallet.
According to the announcement, there are plans to add support for several other cryptocurrencies in the future, including top coins like Ethereum and Litecoin.
The services are being offered thanks to a partnership with Zug-based Swiss-based blockchain payment service provider Värdex Suisse AG. The announcement claims that the new cryptocurrency exchange services are basically no different than the existing money exchange business, “which has always been part of Swiss Post’s service offerings.”
