Litecoin Foundation to Sponsor Jon Jones UFC Title Fight

The Litecoin Foundation will officially partner with the UFC to sponsor the UFC 232 main event that will see the second bout held between Jon Jones and Alexander Gustaffson on Saturday, December 29.

The foundation’s Dec. 27 statement said the partnership was part of a community driven approach to promote global awareness and highlighted the UFC’s similar beginnings as a small grassroot movement that had been cultivated to scale through an “extremely passionate” community, adding:

This is a milestone for Litecoin and cryptocurrency in general as no other coin has sponsored a UFC event to date. With brands and institutions continuing to push into cryptocurrency and blockchain, this is yet another signal of this technology moving closer towards the mainstream.

The sponsorship will expose millions of viewers that may not be familiar with cryptocurrency to Litecoin’s brand, which will be displayed on the fight octagon’s canvas.

The statement also talked of the possibility that Litecoin and the UFC may continue working together, with the UFC 232 event sponsorship hopefully being the beginning of a “long and fruitful relationship.”
