Poloniex to End Trading of 9 Crypto Assets for US Customers, Due to Regulatory Uncertainty

Poloniex has announced that U.S. customers will no longer be able to buy or sell nine cryptocurrencies on the exchange, due to uncertainty about whether the tokens in question will be viewed as securities by American regulators. The nine coin markets disabled for U.S. customers include ARDR, BCN, DCR, GAME, GAS, LSK, NXT, OMNI, and REP.

The exchange noted its commitment to compliance with relevant regulations, while acknowledging the potential impact on its users:

We understand how frustrating this choice is for our customers, and for the crypto community more broadly. We believe in the power and potential of these assets, and will continue to focus time and energy on supporting positive policy and regulatory developments for crypto assets in the US and around the world.

US customers holding balances in ARDR, BCN, DCR, GAME, GAS, LSK, NXT, OMNI, and REP on Poloniex must finalize all trades and close any positions in these assets prior to May 29th.

Trading support for the nine tokens will continue for users outside the United States.
