Bloomberg recently reported that Hinomaru Limousine Co. has partnered with Remixpoint Inc. to create a new service that will offer limo customers the option to pay for their rides using cryptocurrency. The report relied on unnamed sources, who suggested that a formal announcement would be made on Tuesday.
The sources said that the service is expected to begin sometime in November and will “cover rides between Tokyo’s 23 wards and either Haneda or Narita airports.” Customers will reportedly have the option to pay using Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, or Ethereum.
Hinomaru’s fleet of vehicles reportedly includes 362 limousines. The unnamed sources suggested that the crypto payment option could be extended to customers who use the company’s 161 taxis as well, if the new service proves successful.
